Final Update: Thank You, Lessons Learned, and the Future of They Live
about 1 year ago – Tue, Feb 14, 2023 at 08:44:42 AM

Hello everyone,

To start with some good news, according to our internal records all games have been shipped to backers. If there is anybody who has an outstanding issue (not counting those we are already dealing with through email) please contact us at [email protected].

As this campaign is now coming to an end, it may take us a little longer to respond to questions and comments here. However, if you have need of further support then please contact us via the email above.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey! We know this has been a long campaign and we really appreciate your support. We can’t begin to describe how much this has meant to us. We have learned a lot throughout this, we have changed our production, our processes, and we have listened to ALL the feedback. All of that will be applied to what we do next, all of that is because of you.

But what are we doing next?

Well… as you know we really love They Live, and we are not ready to say goodbye to this amazing world just yet. We have a new card game set in this world coming soon.

If Assault on Cable 54 captured the movie, then this new card game is the fight in the alleyway!

Final shipping update
over 1 year ago – Fri, Nov 04, 2022 at 08:35:29 PM

Hello everyone,

We have a few specific things to cover in this update. We are aware that a small number of people are still waiting for their games and we want to assure you that resolving these is our top priority at the moment.

US Unshipped Orders

A small number of US orders (less than 1%) have not shipped. There was an issue discovered with how some of them had been packed overseas. This meant that our partners have to open each package, do an inventory count of what was there and what was required, then rebuild the orders. This has now been completed and the orders are being prepared for shipping (some from the US, some from the UK). For those who are waiting for a T-Shirt as part of your order, these will be shipped to you separately directly from the factory. This is because part of the issue with the outstanding orders was a packing error in what material had been packed in each box. We have the details of the orders impacted, there is nothing you need to do for this.

These final US orders will begin shipping out next week.

AU/NZ Unshipped Orders

In our previous update, we highlighted an issue where some games had been missing/damaged in transit. It’s taken some work, but we’ve established that around half of the AU/NZ orders are able to be shipped. Our shipping partner has already started to send the undamaged orders out this week (please note: The T-shirts may arrive separately).

For those we are unable to fulfill, we will contact you directly to discuss the best possible outcome for you individually.

Apologies for the continuing issues with this final hurdle. We have said it before, but it’s getting there.

The future

It’s too early for us to talk about what we do next, our focus is 100% on getting this project completed, but what we can say is that we have learned a LOT from doing this Kickstarter. This was our first ever campaign - we made mistakes, we had some bad luck (who saw a pandemic coming mid-production!?), and we had to quickly learn about the complexities of global shipping at a time when it was in crisis. Whatever we do next, we will take all those lessons and approach it very differently. We have better production lines set up, better material, some great fulfillment partners, and a deeper understanding of the inner workings of a Kickstarter campaign. We are confident that our future projects will be significantly smoother and more timely.

Thank you for your ongoing support and remember:

Australia and NZ Shipping situation
over 1 year ago – Wed, Sep 28, 2022 at 07:43:32 AM

Hello everyone, we hope you are well.

We have a situation with the Australia and NZ games that we need to update you on.

Once the material started to arrive in Australia, we updated you to say that they were due to begin shipping soon - we were just waiting for the rest of the stock to land, and didn’t foresee any issues. Unfortunately when the remaining stock has arrived,  a large percentage of it has been damaged or destroyed during transit. Some parts of the stock are still missing. We have been working with the shipping companies to try to locate the missing material and understand exactly what has happened and how.

This has been a very challenging and frustrating situation that we are trying to resolve as fast as we can, however at the moment we are having to go through a lengthy claims process (which includes weighing the stock, full material counts, damage photography, and a number of other checks and processes). At the same time, we are looking at what we can do to get the material to you as quickly as possible.

There is a lot of stock lost, and it isn’t as simple as just shipping more games - especially as we are having to work around lockdowns and holidays in China (for example, all of next week is a public holiday).

We realise that this news will be disappointing to our Australia and NZ backers. We are frustrated too, we thought we were approaching the end of our shipping issues, and sadly this has hit us out of nowhere. We are reviewing all options as to how we move forward and fix this, and we can only apologise for the delays in getting these games to you. As soon as we know more we will let you know.

One other thing to note - Aetherworks, who are handling our Australia and NZ shipments, have been very accommodating and helpful throughout this. This delay is nothing to do with them, we had to pause any fulfillment they needed to do while we tried to resolve this. We are now preparing to ship the undamaged copies to those that we can, but it’s hard to say an exact timeline for this at the moment.

We are sorry this has happened, and we will do everything we can to get this sorted as quickly as possible.
