December Update and Game Unboxing
over 2 years ago – Sat, Dec 11, 2021 at 03:03:39 AM

Hello everyone, we hope you are well and ready for the holidays.

Unboxing video

As we explained last month, we were waiting for a number of production copies of the game to arrive with us so that we could do a final check of all the material. That has now happened, and as promised we have filmed one of them being unboxed so that we can show you exactly how the game will look when it arrives with you.

Here is the full unboxing video:

Production

We are pleased to confirm that the game is now in full production! The factory are working hard on getting all the material produced and ready.

As we’ve mentioned before, we can’t be there ourselves to oversee production as we had originally planned. Instead, we have hired an independent QC inspection company to check the games as they are produced to ensure everything is going as it should be. They will keep us updated with the progress.

That’s all for this month. We will of course keep you up to date as we get closer to those important shipping dates. If you have any questions or concerns, please message us directly. It’s worth noting that with the holiday period coming up it may take us a little longer to answer messages than usual, but we will ensure that each is responded to as soon as we can.

The wait is almost over, prepare to put on the glasses, jump into LA, and take down Cable 54!

Thank you for your ongoing support and remember:

Mid-month update
over 2 years ago – Wed, Nov 24, 2021 at 12:25:53 PM

Hello everyone, we hope you are well. Last month we said that we would aim to provide a mid-month update regarding our progress. We have a few bits that we’d like to cover.

New overlay board wheels

One of the things we covered last month was around the wheels that are used to track stats on the character overlay boards. These were stiff and harder to move than we would like, so we were working with the factory on a solution.

We have now received and thoroughly tested the new-and-improved overlay boards. We are pleased to say they are much better and work exactly as we’d hoped.

New overlay board wheels

Production sample check

We have 10 final copies of the game on a courier to us now. They are supposed to be with us this week, however, all shipping from China, even by courier, is not meeting delivery guidelines at the moment. They have assured us that this delay shouldn’t be more than a few days at most.

These copies will each be checked to ensure consistency and everything is exactly as it should be (it takes us around 2 hours to fully check each copy, so we're in for an intense day!). Whilst doing this, we will also film a full opening and unboxing of one of the copies of the game, which we will share with you all in the next update.

We will check all the material and do the video the same day that the copies arrive with us. Once that is done and approved, we will instruct the factory to finish producing all of your copies of the game!

Shipping
We had mentioned previously that we have a shipping solution in place. The company we are using has locations all over the world, but our agent is based in the US. They flew over to the UK last week for an event, and we took the opportunity to meet with them in person and discuss the finer details of our shipment plan. Everything is agreed and ready to go as soon as the games are produced.

ETA

We have been aiming for December to begin shipping the games, however, as production is estimated to be completed in the 2nd or 3rd week of December, shipping will in all likelihood begin in early January. This will avoid the games sitting in a container somewhere over Christmas. We will be able to confirm this, and give a more accurate release window, once we have checked and approved the production copies that are en route to us.

We are getting close now, and we will share the full unboxing video in an update shortly after we've filmed it.

October Update: Address Locking
over 2 years ago – Wed, Oct 27, 2021 at 08:41:40 PM

Hello everyone, we hope you are all well. Today we have a few updates regarding progress. We hope to have a more substantial update soon.

Shipping:

In our previous update, we said the following:

“In order to fully prepare the shipping solution we are using, we need to provide them with the final order list. To do this, we are going to need to lock addresses. Please consider this your notice period to check and update your address. We will be locking addresses on October 31st.

Please could you all check that the address on backerkit matches where you would like the game sent. If it doesn’t you can update it on backerkit, or recall your survey here: link https://they-live-assault-on-cable-54.backerkit.com/

(If there are any issues after this date please message us directly)”

We also sent out a mass email earlier in the month advising of this.

Please note: This is now your final notice to check and amend your address. We will be locking them all this Sunday, OCTOBER 31st.

Over the last few weeks, I’m sure many of you have seen this new banner at the top of the kickstarter page:

This is a situation that is impacting almost every kickstarter campaign, and while we are not immune, we are happy to say that we have already arranged our shipping solution

As soon as production is complete, our fulfilment provider will take them, assemble the orders, and ship them out to you, our patient backers.

It is very important therefore that we lock in the addresses now so that they can start working on the specifics of shipping in each area.

Production Samples:

We have now received the production sample of the game. While we are happy with almost all of it, there is one component that we feel could be improved.

That is the overlay board. This is an important gameplay component, as the wheels are used to track your stats as you progress through the game. On the production sample we received, the wheels were stiff and harder to move than we would like, making them too fiddly to use in gameplay. It was clear that they needed to be improved.

So that’s what we’ve done. We’ve been working closely with the factory to manufacture a new wheel solution.

The new wheel system should be much smoother to use, and will make the overlay boards function better. They are simple to clip in when you receive your copy of the game, and we will upload some instructions on how to do this closer to the time.

We should have the next production sample, which includes the revised boards, with us shortly. Subject to everything being as it should, we will give the factory the go ahead for full production.

We are aiming to put out a mid-month update next month to update you on our progress.

We want to thank you all again for the patience shown throughout this campaign. The whole team is so excited to get this game into your hands. We love playing it, and we are confident you all will too.

September Update / Address Locking Notice
over 2 years ago – Sat, Oct 02, 2021 at 04:12:55 PM

Hello everyone, we hope you are well.

We have a few bits to update you on this month (Including a very important bit of information around locking addresses). We’ll kick it off with an update on where we are in the process.

Scheduling update

We explained last month that we had studio approval, and were working towards getting that production sample. That sample isn't quite with us yet, however, we have a lot of positive updates to share about where things are.

Here is a gif and some pictures direct from the factory showing the game being produced.

As you can see, the factory is hard at work getting these ready. We still have to see those production samples before we can complete and assemble the individual orders, but they should be with us shortly. As we explained before, these will allow us to check the final quality, we will be checking multiple copies to ensure everything is consistent across the entire run. Once we have this in hand, we will be able to provide you with an update regarding a more precise timescale and a window on when the game will ship.

Protective film

One of the concerns we’ve seen raised by some backers is around the protection of the hidden image material. One of the improvements we’ve made this month is that ALL the hidden image materials will ship with a removable protective film on them.

This will protect them during shipping, and you are free to peel them off when the game arrives with you. They do not affect the polarization, so you can leave them on if you wish. The below gif will demonstrate this:

Shipping

We have now locked in our shipping solution. We will go into some of the specifics about this in the next update. With everything going on worldwide with shipping at the moment, this was a much more challenging logistic hurdle than we expected, but we are finally there!

We have had to make one slight change to the way we are shipping the game, specifically around the dice cups (which are looking great!).

Here is the short of it: those of you who ordered the dice cups will receive them packaged and dispatched separately (at no extra cost).

I’ll try and explain a little about why this is. Shipping, as you know, is currently going through a global crisis. It has created all sorts of unexpected hurdles and expenses. I am sure many of you are aware of the issues, given that it seems to be impacting so many industries across the globe.

But what does this have to do with dice cups?

There are a number of extras that could be ordered with the game (T-shirts, dice mats etc).

All of which are flat and can be placed on top of the game when shipping - except for the dice cups.

As they are unable to be flat packed, they are significantly increasing the size of the parcel required for sending all the material together. This increases the volumetric weight, and therefore the price rises significantly. With the current shipping situation, this is adding substantial cost to an already very expensive distribution solution. To put some perspective on it; in terms of volumetric weight the parcel was actually doubling after adding the cups.

But we do have an alternative.

We will ship the cups separately to each backer that bought one instead. This means that you will receive 2 parcels; one will contain the game and all extras (except the cup). The second will just be the cup.

They should arrive at around the same time as the games but because of the different shipping methods, they may take longer or arrive earlier. So don’t be alarmed if your game arrives without the cup or if you receive just the cup first!

Address locking

In order to fully prepare the shipping solution we are using, we need to provide them with the final order list.

(If there are any issues after this date please message us directly)

That’s all for now, we will have more information soon.

August update
over 2 years ago – Mon, Aug 30, 2021 at 09:43:42 PM

Hello everyone, we hope you are well.

This month we’d like to update you on the progress against the scheduling information that we gave last month. As we said, we had 4 stages left to go through. We are happy to report that the first of these is now complete!

The studio has approved the game with no issues! This was mainly due to us providing updates to them over time digitally which has allowed this process to be sped up. This has allowed us to move onto the next stage: the production sample.

The production sample is different from other samples of materials we’ve had before. This is the final product exactly as you will receive it, and allows us to do one final check over everything to ensure that it is up to the high-quality standards that we are aiming for.

That sample is currently being prepared and should be with us shortly.

Once it is, the next step is for us to check over everything and ensure we are 100% happy with it all (and then most importantly show you). Once we are, we press ‘go’, and we move into the production phase.

We will keep you fully updated with where we are in the process during future updates.

Updated rulebook:

We had a request last month to share the latest version of the rulebook with you all. Here are both of them:

Main Rulebook

1-3 Player Mode

Locking addresses reminder:

Once we reach the ‘Production’ stage of the process, we will give you a 30-day notice on locking order addresses, this is very important for us to ensure that your copy of the game reaches you. If you want to update your address today, please log into your backerkit account and make the change there. If you can't find your login details then you can use this link to recover your survey: https://they-live-assault-on-cable-54.backerkit.com/
